Project Manager for Impact of Digital Technology in the Cultural Sector Project
|
[expired]
(Bilingual Service)
|
|
Summary: The impact of digital technology is being felt in all the sub-sectors of the cultural sector (visual arts and crafts, live performing arts, film and television, broadcasting, music and sound recording, writing and publishing, digital media, and heritage). It is changing the way culture and cultural products are created, produced, distributed, marketed and preserved. It is the opinion of the Board of CHRC that the impact of digital technology is the biggest single issue facing the cultural sector at this time.
In varying degrees, it is affecting the infrastructures of the sub-sectors, the modus operandi of their businesses, the skill requirements of employers and the training needs of artists and cultural workers. This year-long study to identify the HR impact of digital technology on the cultural sector will be carried out by consultants under the direction of a Steering Committee including cultural sector employers and workers. This is a 12-month, part-time position.

Summary: The PEI Cultural Human Resources Sector Council (CHRSC) is seeking a consulting firm/or professional researcher(s) on a contractual basis to explore the topic of hybrid careers in the cultural sector.
The goal of this project is to study the range of models for engagement in the cultural sector, best practices, pitfalls, and policy issues related to hybrid careers/moonlighting. This research has not yet been undertaken in Canada - the topic is relatively new even though the practice appears to be quite popular. The CHRSC would like to take a lead on this research with the goal of providing cultural workers – emerging and established - with ideas about how they can balance their desire for creative work with the need to make a steady income.
The winning firm/individuals will collaborate with CHRSC’s Steering Committee on this project.
Deliverable: A report that summarizes findings and suggests hybrid career options for the sector.
